The Severn Tree Trust was formed in November 2009 out of the Shropshire and Montgomery branch of the International Tree Foundation which arose out of the Men of the Trees originally inspired by Richard St Barbe Baker in 1922.
Although our main area of activity is Mid-Wales and the Border counties our activities are centred on Shrewsbury, however we have members in all parts of the UK.
We welcome anyone who is interested in trees and our members range from amateur enthusiasts to professionals involved daily with trees.
Our aim is to promote the significance of the value of trees and the benefits of planting and the protection of them. We aim to plant more trees ourselves and to educate, encourage and support others in the planting of trees.
The Severn Tree Trust is an association for all those interested in trees. Our main area of activity is Mid Wales and the border counties, based as we are in Shrewsbury.
We are an entirely independent organisation, our members ranging from amateur tree enthusiasts to people professionally involved with trees.
We have a programme of events and talks throughout the year. In spring and summer we arrange a visit each month to an arboretum, woodland or garden with an emphasis on trees.
We aim to plant trees and hedges during the winter months, often using our own field stock. Donnerville Spinney in Telford is our corporate woodland where trees were planted with local support.
Our monthly newsletter includes matters of interest with details of our talks and visits.
Members enjoy sharing advice on the selection, planting and management of trees.
